Bose has introduced updated versions of two of its products - the full-sized Bose QuietComfort Headphones and the Earbuds.
Both models now have the "Ultra" suffix in their names, indicating support for spatial audio. The spatial audio works in the same way as in AirPods, creating a sensation that the sound source is right in front of you, even when you turn your head.
The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones have undergone slight external changes, featuring a more refined design with contrasting alterations. Bose claims that these headphones can last up to 24 hours without immersive audio and up to 18 hours with it. However, Bose doesn't focus on audio quality metrics like frequency response and other characteristics that don't tell you much about sound quality (but Bose is not particularly known for audio quality).
The unattractive QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds have remained mostly unchanged in terms of design. They are still bulky and lack aesthetic appeal. These earbuds offer a battery life of 6 hours without Immersive Audio and four hours with it. The charging case can recharge the earbuds "up to three times," which would result in an overall usage time of approximately 18/12 hours, depending on the mode. Bose has not provided detailed information about the sound quality.
While it's too early to judge without listening, these headphones are likely to be among the best noise-cancelling headphones. Bose has extensive experience and numerous patents in noise-cancellation technology. Hopefully, they will also deliver improved sound quality.
Both models are currently available for pre-order. The full-sized Ultra Headphones are priced at $429 before taxes (or €500 in Europe), while the Earbuds are priced at $299 (or €350).
